The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehicle-related industries.

New Vehicle Sale

• The dealer has to register the new vehicle on behalf of the buyer.

• The state of Texas will permit the registration as long as the vehicle can pass the inspection.

Used vehicle sale

• The used vehicle also need to register.
• The used vehicle should be inspected before the registration. Then, you have to submit the title paperwork to the Texas tax office.
• Then, you have to note that new inspection is required if you sell your car within 180 days of the previous inspection.

Emission Test

• The dealer is not necessary to provide VIR (Vehicle Inspection Report) with each title application.

Vehicle Inspection Fee Collection

• The vehicle inspector is not responsible for receiving the inspection fee.
